Brdnik, Rakovec, Lasič Trio

music | concert

Even though the 11 tracks on Leta are heavily influenced by Mediterranean and South American (melancholy) sensibility, the duo opens in and around the music enough room for other motifs we do not often encounter in similar styles of music. The result is a sophisticated record for music connoisseurs, which appeals with its poetic drive to less demanding listeners as well.

For lovers of cross-genre musical journeys.

Marko Brdnik and Uroš Rakovec are soloists, chamber musicians, and studio artists. They play, each for himself and sometimes together, in various local and international avant-rock, jazz, ethno-jazz and other ensembles, all of which were awarded numerous music prizes and recognitions. They write, each for himself and sometimes together, music for various theatre plays, dance shows and films.

Their joint creations as masters of the accordion and guitar duo gave the album Leta a distinct sound, leading to raving reviews last year, such as “world-class release that could easily be heard at the world’s most famous venues and compete with the world’s most famous music artists in the genre” (Andrej Predin, Slovenske Novice), “Leta is a beautiful album that will meet the demands of a wide profile of listeners” (Aleš Podbrežnik, Rockline), “for lovers of cross-genre musical journeys this album – despite made by well-known artists – is definitely the surprise of the year” (Mario Batelić, Radio Študent).

Brdnik and Rakovec masterfully avoid stereotypes we tend to associate with other bands where the accordion and guitar play a leading role. Even though the 11 tracks on Leta are heavily influenced by Mediterranean and South American (melancholy) sensibility, the duo opens in and around the music enough room for other motifs we do not often encounter in similar styles of music.
