Cubismo’s strongest side are definitely their concerts and live appearances that are always bursting with positing energy exuded by the members on stage.

Cubismo is a band known for their eclectic mix of high-energy dance music with Afro-Cuban rhythms and a specific, well-recognizable style. 

The band, whose members hail from Croatia, Venezuela, Cuba and Slovenia, is one of the most well-known bands playing this genre of music in this part of Europe.

Cubismo published seven albums, most of them distributed world-wide. 

The band’s history is filled with collaborations with world-class music stars. The album Motivo Cubano was recorded with members of the legendary Buena Vista Social Club. Yolanda Duke, member of the Tito Puente Orchestra at the time, was one of the featured artists on the album Viva la Habana. Cubismo recorded songs and featured in their concerts many legendary Croatian artists, including Josipa Lisac, Gabi Novak, Stephen ‘Jimmy’ Stanič, Oliver Dragojević, and many more. The band has also collaborated with many artists from the wider Balkan area, such as Vlada Divljan of Idoli fame, the Macedonian Kočani orkestar, and the king of Roma music Šaban Bajramović. Cubismo have always been proud of their ‘multi-cult’ concept they believe is the key driver in spreading music and the human factor. 

Cubismo are known for their high quality music and professional attitude of their members, and have won several prestigious music awards, such as the Porin and the Status.

The band was founded in 1995 and celebrates their 23rd anniversary in 2018. The name Cubismo is derived from the Dizzy Gillespie classic Cu-bi cu-bop. Gillespie was one of the first artists to mix Afro-Cuban rhythms with other music genres.
