Leto Križanič Žorž
Sixteen-year old harp player Leto Križanič Žorž is one of the best and most promising young Slovenian musicians. She earned her place on concerts stages with top results at national and international competitions. She won the last three TESMIG national music competitions (2012, 2015, 2018), twice earning a score of 100 points. Some of her most resounding recent achievements include a 100-point win at the 4th International Harp Competition in Szeged, Hungary (2016) and 1st place at the 22nd International Competition Petar Konjović in Novi Sad, Serbia (2017). Slovenian audiences first came to know her when she made the finals of the national selection for the 2018 Eurovision Young Musician where she appeared with the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra. Leto began her music career at the age of 7 at the Jesenice Music School and won the international competition Daniele Ridolfi 2010 in Pietrasanta, Italy the first year, earning the best score in all categories. In the years after that she won 1st place at international competitions Daniele Ridolfi 2011 in Pietrasanta, Agimus 2011 in Padua, and Antonio Salieri 2012 in Verona. She won the Svirel International Competition three times and made the top-10 in all string instrument categories. Aside from solo performances, she plays with the Jesenice Music School Symphony Orchestra, the revue orchestra of the Maribor Conservatory of Music, and is part of various chamber ensembles and vocal groups. She was selected to the symphony orchestra of Slovenian music schools that played a gala concert to commemorate the 200th anniversary of public music schools at the Gallus Hall. Leto is currently a student of the Maribor Conservatory of Music and Ballet, studying under the mentorship of Professor Dalibor Bernatović, and a student of the Jacopo Tomadini Music Conservatory in Udine, Italy, studying under the mentorship of Professor Patrizia Tassini. Aside from her studies, she regularly takes part in master classes with world-renowned concert harpists and pedagogues such as Irina Zingg, Karen Vaughan, Stephen Fitzpatrick, Şirin Pancaroglu, Sasha Boldachev, Park Stickney, Gabriela dall'Olio, Roxane Martin, Diana Grubišić Ćiković, and Mojca Zlobko Vajgel. Not only is Leto a dedicated musician, she is a dancer as well. After ten years of studying classical ballet, she has recently moved to jazz ballet. Aside from music, she finds her peace in the mountains, working as a junior mountain guide and a candidate for a junior supervisory of the Triglav National Park.
Saxfam saxophone octet
Saxfam, the saxophone octet of the Ljubljana Conservatory of Music and Ballet, operate under the mentorship of Professor Jan Gričar. Members of the octet are young and promising saxophone students who share a passion for playing. The young musicians earned 1st place and the gold prize at the 47th national music competition TEMSIG in the 2nd category – chamber music with wind instruments. The octet amaze their audiences with youthful energy and mature harmony in an uncommon, yet very attractive chamber ensemble.
