Nesesari Kakalulu

Hypnotic bass lines twirl in a polyrhythmic dance with repetitive guitar lines, djembe open a dialogue with drums, and winds embark on improvised solo missions over the supporting rhythms and riffs, all while the sound is propped up by a sturdy drum line.

Nesesari Kakalulu are a young band from the Primorska region consisting of nine instrumentalists who share the wish of getting people off their seats and onto the dance floor with their rhythm-filled music.

Their first inspiration and the reason they got together in the first place was the legacy of Fele Kuti. They later developed an individual sound. According to the artists themselves, they stage a modern ritual in the spirit of Sub-Saharan rhythms.

The band recently introduced female vocals to their sets. According to the band members, amidst a tsunami of omnipresent electro music, they felt a calling to do something for organic music and dance.
