The trio do not limit themselves to traditional sounds, choosing instead to enhance them with sound effects. Yet effects are not the core of music, they simply play a role in adding nuance to sound and do not overpower the overall musical experience.

Rok Zalokar trio are a jazz-rock-classical-you-name-it trio. The trio’s main musical focus is to masterfully navigate between moods, developing each mood as they go. They enrich their baseline composition sketches by adding jazz elements, the straightforwardness of rock and the lyricism of classical music. Striving to keep alive the innate liveliness of music, the trio dedicate ample room in their musical stories to improvisation, an element their compositions are largely subordinate to. The Rok Zalokar trio made their first introduction to broader audiences at the 2012 Club Marathon. At a certain point in time during their musical development, the trio captured the original compositions they had played in their sets at the time and recorded them on their first studio album entitled Vol. 1 (2013, Radio Študent Record Label – ZARŠ). In the summer of 2014, the trio were awarded the Jazzon prize for best performance and best composition, and followed up their success by releasing their next studio album Vol. 2, which they later took on a tour across Slovenia.
