Marko Črnčec is one of the most renowned contemporary music artists from Slovenia.

He lives and creates in New York City. On the international scene, Črnčec is known as an artist versed in multiple instruments, a composer, music arranger and producer, whose primary focus are jazz and popular music. He released four studio albums with original music, all of which gained critical acclaim, which makes him one of the most creative and prolific Slovenian jazz artists. The albums Signature and Moral Interchange were released in 2010 with B.A.S.E. Records. His third album Devotion was released in 2014 with the renowned London-based record label Whirlwind Recordings. The largest jazz magazine All About Jazz ranked the album among the top 20 jazz albums of 2014 in the world. This made Črnčec part of the jazz elite among the ranks of Brian Blade, Tigran Hamasyan, Ambrose Akinmusire, Jason Moran and other. Črnčec’s latest album Ruthenia was released in 2017 with the Spanish record label Fresh Sound, New Talent.

The Big Band RTV Slovenija regularly collaborates with Slovenian jazz musicians. Marko Črnčec, the pianist and composer based in New York City, is definitely one of the most talented and internationally acclaimed collabs. Despite his youth, Črnčec has long been a staple of the NYC music scene, working with top-level artists in the jazz music business. This appearance is a shining example of the connection between the young and old generation, a mixture of young energy and new ideas with experience and well-rehearsed ensemble of Slovenia’s national jazz orchestra.

The concert will be conducted by Maestro Lojze Krajnčan, who arranged the music of Marko Črnčec and wrote two new songs for this occasion. Črnčec himself contributed two new arrangements for the concert as well.
