Aside from music, which is the central part of his creative endeavours, Luka Gluvić is also a prose writer, playwright and actor. He played double bass in the Big Band Grosuplje and was once the leader of a jazz quintet for which he contributed original music. From 2015 to 2016, he released four EPs under the creative name ‘From the balcony’ with a digital record label. After the release of his studio album Vstopanje (Bandcamp) in 2017, Luka continues his singer-songwriter career by pursuing his artistic vision. He was also featured on the 13th edition of the compilation Rockerji pojejo pesnike. Luka released two EPs this year, Temne sence and Svobodna sorta (Bandcamp).
“To limit the words and music of Luka Gluvić simply to folk/country rock would describe only a small part of his musical story, which is still expanding and building, both with his contribution to the RPP 2017 compilation, as well as with the special story behind his voice. His is not a country or folk rock bel canto voice, but rather a San Diego raspy and interpretative voice. Luka uses his epic and lyrical moments to build a shocking lyrical story, one we do not hear too often; maybe only with Josh T. Pearson in 2011 or with Waits himself on his first album.“ (Matej Kranjc, review of the album Vstopanje, Mentor magazine, February 2018).
