Andrej Hrvatin a.k.a. NIMETU is one of the most interesting and genre-evasive music artists in Slovenia. He was part of numerous diverse musical and performance projects and co-wrote music for visual, dance, film and theatre productions.
He’s also active in radio production, having worked as music editor at MARŠ radio and creator of radio shows on traditional and contemporary classical music, and later as an independent co-writer of radio plays and audiobooks.
Andrej devotes a significant part of his creativity to ‘soundart’ and electro-accoustic sound performances as part of his research of art therapy. Working under the moniker NIMETU, he was a guest at the Sonic Art residence in New Delhi in 2018 and the 2014 ISIM Conference in NYC.
He co-wrote original music for various dance projects and attended numerous dance performances and workshops in different genres, ranging from contemporary and improvised to African and Oriental.
He is currently in deep study of the links between art and art therapy with elements of Shamanism (Locus Solus project, ‘Immersion Vortex’ journeys of sound) and is cooperating with the renowned contemporary dance artist Tina Dobaj. Together they study the relationships between movement, sound and art therpay. On the side, Andrej is a frame drumming teacher.
