THE MARGINS
The Margins are a Prekmurje-Croatian line-up that have been together since 2016.The band are Aljaž Gyurica (vocals, guitar), Luka Ščavničar (bass guitar, backing vocals), Jože Horvat (drums), and Patrik Jambrošić (guitar, backing vocals), whom the fellas imported from Croatia. The collaboration proved more than successful and highly productive, as the band presented their first record Bella Insania in November 2017 at Orto bar in Ljubljana.
The record features nine original songs on the common topic of man and his attitude towards the world. All lyrics are in English, but the band are not above releasing a song in Slovenian or Croatian in the future. Their home genre is rock, but the album includes a fresh mixture of grunge, indie, and alter just to name a few. The Margins have been on a heavy touring schedule since the release of the album and are already working on songs for their second studio album.
JINHO JINZA
God Bless This Mess Records still owe us from last year! They’re now settling the score by delivering the long-awaited first album of the Murska Sobota-based band Jinho Jinza, entitled TODAY - 'cause the devil told me so. Jinho Jinza are a band of battle-tested musicians, with a long list of high-profile music projects behind and, judging from their first record, ahead of them. The band are Samo Ismajlović, who shook his axe with the experimental band Automassage, Janis Salnajs, who bass guitared the hell out of noise rock band Manul, and newest addition Matej Šavel, who manned the drum set of the legendary Psycho-Path.
Jinho Jinza say this band is a new beginning, connecting the half-distant past of their musical endeavours and bringing a new maturity on one hand, and youthful playfulness on the other. The first song on the record, called simply Blues, sets the tone with a fiery fury and captures the essence of their music, which is based on classic blues in rhythm and structure, upgraded with a modern approach under loud hard rock. TODAY – ‘cause the devil cold me so is available for download under the ‘pay as you like’ principle from the band’s Bandcamp site.
